Salman Khan’s Eid release ‘Race 3’ enters 100 crore club
Jun 19 2018
This year there are larger than life cutouts of Salman around the theatres, and hundreds of customized "Race 3" T-shirts have been distributed. The movie also reached the second spot on the list of Top grossers in the opening weekend. Directed by Remo D'souza, Race 3 is an action-drama produced by Ramesh Taurani.
Salman Khan to his credit now has a record of most number of flicks minting Rs 100 crore at the box office, leaving behind stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan. Despite getting mixed word of mouth, Race 3 managed to remain rock-steady at the ticket counters in all the region on the film following days. Race 3 maintained the momentum on Sunday as well and registered Rs 39.16 crore, taking its three-day collection to Rs 106.47 crore.
However, the Saturday and Sunday collections despite negative reviews flooding in since Friday prove that audiences, like Bhai, don't care about critics at all and will ensure "Race 3" is declared a victor.
Salman has ruled the box office during Eid for quite some time now.
Salman Khan's Eid releases are famous in the movie industry and most of his movies that have released on the festival have crossed the Rs 100 crore mark.
However, trade experts believe the collections are likely to see a dip from Monday onwards.
Race 3 focuses on Shamsher Singh, played by Anil Kapoor, who runs an empire in the Middle East dealing in arms and narcotics, his adopted son, Sikander (Salman Khan) and his two children, Sanjana and Suraj.
With the next big-budget movie "Sanju", starring Ranbir Kapoor releasing on June 29, 2018, "Race 3' has another week to race at the box-office".
