Dallas Native Demi Lovato Hospitalized After Reported Overdose

A short while after TMZ reported that Demi Lovato had suffered an overdose and was hospitalized, a death hoax surfaced on social media.

And following reports that Demi Lovato was rushed to hospital on Tuesday for a suspected heroin overdose, sources claim her ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valerrama is "completely devastated".

While Demi's condition remains unknown, it's said that she is now being treated.

Lovato also battled mental illness and disordered eating, having been treated for bipolar disorder, bulimia, and self-harm in addition to the addiction, People reported.

The pop star has struggled with substance abuse before, having attended rehab for cocaine in the past.

The former Disney star's health scare comes one month after she revealed in her song Sober that she had relapsed following six years of sobriety.

Lovato's show in Atlantic City, N.J., set to take place on Thursday at Atlantic City Beach, was scrapped following her hospitalization.

Lovato, whose acting career has also included a recurring role on Glee, has in recent years appeared to be on the mend with a new stable and assertive public image. Her condition was unknown.

"Sober", which she released June 21, included lyrics like "I'm so sorry I'm not sober anymore" and "I promise I'll get help/It wasn't my intention/I'm sorry to myself".

Taking to Twitter hours after reports broke of Demi's hospitalisation on Tuesday, Nick wrote: 'Like all of you I am reeling at the news about Demi.

Country singer Brad Paisley tweeted, "Addiction is a awful disease". Lovato often speaks about how important her fans are to her.
