Dejan Lovren Says He's One Of The Best Defenders In The World

Lovren ready for Kane test at World Cup

Lovren was a defensive rock as Croatia came from behind to beat England in the semi-final on Wednesday and seal a date with France in Moscow on Sunday.

Lovren went into the game irritated that the English media had reminded him of his nightmare against Harry Kane when he was humiliatingly substituted after only half an hour in Liverpool's crushing 4-1 defeat to Tottenham at Wembley last season.

He told beIN Sport: "People said I had a hard season but I don't agree with that".

"Since I came in, maybe Dejan made three or four mistakes, two of them in the Tottenham game, maybe one in a Champions League game a year ago. I think people should recognise that I'm one of the best defenders in the world".

Croatia and Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren claims that he should be regarded as one of the best defenders in world football having reached the World Cup final. People are crying in our country.

The Croatia worldwide will be hoping to emerge victorious against France in the final, and the way he helped shut Kane down will give him confidence.

"We will never forget this". And Lovren insists they are not scared for the French, who will be favourites to fit the trophy for the second time, 20 years after beating the Croats in the last four. We will never forget this. "Now we have a chance to do something even better".

'It was tough first-half.

"Modric is not one of the best, [he is] the best midfield player in the world and if we win this World Cup he deserves the Ballon d'Or".

Dalic refused to confirm whether right back Sime Vrsaljko would miss the game, after the Atletico Madrid player came off in extra time against Russian Federation.

The proud Croatian said that team-mate Luka Modric deserves the Ballon d'Or if his side prevail against France this weekend and added that it will be a massive occasion for Croatia.
