Fortnite Season 5 Adds a New Squad Vehicle, Desert Biome & More

Fortnite season 5 map changes

It's also added two new named locations: Paradise Palms and Lazy Links, on top of a few anonymous areas that will surprise when you jump out of the Battle Bus. Viking ships and ancient statues have appeared on the map, while a drought in the Moisty Mire region has yielded a new desert landscape.

As with previous Battle Pass achievements, the Fortnite skins appear to pull inspiration from iconic character.

You'll be able to quickly get between these and other existing locations in the new All Terrain Kart, Fortnite's first vehicle capable of carrying a squad. We won't know the full extent of cosmetic changes to the map and exactly what the new season's theme is until the servers come back online.

The roof acts as a bounce pad. Squads will also be able to jump the ATK over obstacles. To get a lot of height, multiple players need to all lean back and release at the same time.

The biggest change pertains to the new Rifts that are scattered all throughout the "Fortnite" battle royale map. Epic has brought some of them down to earth in the form of Rifts. There's also Wild West-themed characters and weapons for the co-op "Save the World" mode, and the addition of new skins, like Drift and Huntress. This should make it a little bit more challenging for players who prefer to camp as the Storm closes in. This should provide players with more information on why their point blank hits are only registering small damages. Heavy shotguns have been given a 10 pellet magazine, instead of 5, and the ability to double pump has been reduced with the introduction of a shot delay. That last one is my favourite, which shows the player tapping their head before "2 + 2 = 4" is scrawled before them. To rectify this, players can earn XP for reviving their teammates in 50v50 and Teams of 20 matches.
