Mega Millions jackpot surges to $522 million ahead of Tuesday’s drawing

Mega Millions ticket worth $1M sold in Delaware County

Georgia lottery officials confirmed on Tuesday that the Mega Millions lottery prize has grown from an already massive $512 million to $522 million due to "robust sales". One lucky ticket holder might be the recipient of that windfall today, when the drawing takes place at 11 pm ET. But there are things you can do to boost the odds of becoming a multi-millionaire. To win, you must match the five white balls and the one gold ball.

Individual lottery tickets cost $2 and can be purchased up until 7:45 p.m. Players can also select Easy Pick/Quick Pick to have numbers automatically chosen for them.

This is the 5th largest jackpot in the game's history. The jackpot has a cash option of $308 million, which is obviously still not a bad chunk of change.

The jackpot, now at $522 million, has surged past $400 million for only the seventh time in the game's 16-year history.

As of Tuesday morning, the jackpot was estimated at $522 million and is expected to grow even more before the drawing Tuesday night.
