Demi Lovato's assistant thought she was dead after overdose

ARLINGTON TX- MARCH 25 Demi Lovato performs onstage during Beauty Kind Unites Concert for Causes at AT&T Stadium

The 25-year-old singer has been hospitalized for over a week following her apparent overdose and she has agreed to go to rehab once she is better, according to TMZ.

TMZ revealed that a source told them, "Demi's family has squarely raised the issue of rehab with her. something they delayed for days because of the many complications resulting from the OD". "He held her hand for hours in the hospital as he, her family, and team helped convince her to make the safe decision to seek further professional treatment at rehab instead of going back to work". Her personal assistant reportedly screamed out, "She's dead!"

"Wilmer is relieved and grateful Demi has agreed to check into a rehab", a source close to the actor told HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY. The singer's bodyguard, who rushed to the bedside of the stricken pop star, is now being credited with saving her life.

It's unclear what drug or drugs she was using that night, as Lovato was reportedly uncooperative with authorities after she was revived at the scene.

Lovato opened up about her previous addiction troubles in a 2017 documentary.

The bodyguard went to her side and gave her first aid before paramedics arrived.

But it turned out that when she was in a sober-living situation, she still had an active eating disorder and was drinking vodka and using cocaine, she told "Access Hollywood" in 2013. The goal has been to get her physically healthy and now that Demi is stable they're focusing on getting her clean again... "She could die if she doesn't, and that's not going to be on my watch that we did nothing", the source said.
