Eagles coach furious with media after his QB plan leaks

NIck Foles Expected To Start The Philadelphia Eagles' Season Opener

Foles has been starting for Philly since late last season, when MVP candidate Carson Wentz tore his ACL.

Just like Indiana Jones on the hunt for the Holy Grail, Philadelphia Eagles' offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland embarked on an expedition to Florida in March to investigate reports of a gargantuan Australian rugby league player.

Wentz would not be able to play without medical clearance for contact, so the revelation that he has not been cleared would suggest he will be out on Thursday. And Nick Foles will be my starter Week One.

"A little bit, yeah, a little bit". "Therefore, I'm not going to discuss it". Pederson then refused to comment on that report or any questions about his quarterbacks. "It just doesn't make a lot of sense".

Either way, the decision means six opening-day quarterbacks over the past 10 seasons for the Eagles as Foles joins Wentz (2016-2017), Sam Bradford (2015), Michael Vick (2011-2013), Kevin Kolb (2010) and Donovan McNabb (2009). He noted that there wasn't as stark a difference between the two quarterbacks' playing styles as when the Philadelphia had Ron Jaworski and Randall Cunningham in the 1980s.

Foles has looked shaky during preseason action this summer, but led Philadelphia to its first Super Bowl win in franchise history last season, winning the game's MVP award in the process.

In his second season previous year after having been the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 draft, Wentz had put himself in the MVP conversation before suffering a severe knee injury in Week 14.

It would be surprising if Foles didn't play much better on Thursday night than he did in the preseason. That set up a press conference with a contentious Pederson on Sunday (see story).

The wait is over and any advantage the Eagles tried to convince us they were getting by waiting is now gone.
