Musician Malcolm James McCormick, better known for his rapper stage name Mac Miller, died of an apparent overdose at his home in San Fernando Valley, TMZ reported on Friday afternoon.

Los Angeles police said they responded to a report of a deceased person at a home on the block where Miller is listed as a resident, the Associated Press reported.

Miller was involved in a hit-and-run crash in May when his vehicle hit a utility pole. He was charged with two counts of driving under the influence last month.

She and Mac dated for two years but split earlier this year, and Mac's substance abuse problems were reportedly a huge factor in the breakup.

The devastated fans and celebs are still flooding the online space with pained messages and tributes. "I was so f-ed up all the time it was bad".

The rapper's "Donald Trump" song was released five years before the then-businessman and reality show host was elected President.

In 2011, he released his debut album Blue Slide Park.

"Alright I'm seeing a bunch of people blaming [Ariana Grande] for Mac Miller dying! what's wrong with you people?".

Rest easy, Mac. Your music will live on forever.

"I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they have to be", Grande tweeted.

Miller's United States tour was due to commence in San Francisco on 27 October. You're 19, you're so excited to put out your first album, you put it out - and no one has any respect for you or for what you did...

Miller had just been preparing to embark on a U.S. tour after releasing his most recent album, Swimming, on August 3.

"Do I wish that every single thing I did when I was 19 wasn't a discussion?"
