Friends and other community members in Tempe have started a makeshift memorial where a young ASU student was killed in a weekend road rage shooting.

Police say shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday, Jiang and a 21-year-old friend were stopped at a red light in a Mercedes at the intersection of Broadway and McClintock when Davis rear-ended them.

The wounded woman was taken to a hospital where she died.

He said overseas Chinese are "Very concerned" about the case and asked police to ensure Davis faces justice.

Five others, including three children and pregnant woman, also were hospitalized after the crash.

The shooter fled the scene southbound on McClintock in a silver Volkswagen Passat, Galbraith said. Initial reports said the family was hospitalized as a precautionary measure. One of the drivers then got out of her auto and fired several rounds into the other vehicle.

Occupants of the third vehicle were taken to a hospital as a precaution.

Jiang's boyfriend sustained minor injuries.

"Her boyfriend is also a sophomore student majoring in communications", Zhu said. She was located in a Mesa home where police said the woman was not remorseful, not cooperating with police and would not admit to the shooting.

Arrests reports indicate that Davis had previously been convicted for resisting a lawful stop and fleeing in Missouri, and was subsequently sentenced to three years in prison.

The suspect, Holly Davis has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct with a deadly weapon.

'Regarding yesterday's incident where ASU student Yue Jiang was killed, we just want to say that fellow students are being encouraged to talk with counselors, and that our thoughts and prayers are with the student's family, ' Gonzalez said.
