There was a victor in Saturday night's Powerball drawing, but not in the First State.
Officials said early Sunday the location will not be disclosed until certain security procedures are completed, and it's anticipated that the location will be revealed by Monday. The jackpot starts at $40 million and increases until there is a victor. The drawing is set for 10:59 p.m. EDT (0259 GMT on Sunday). If there is no jackpot victor, the money in the jackpot pool rolls over to the next POWERBALL drawing.
"This pot has been growing since March 2, after a 67-year-old man in Florida claimed the previous Powerball jackpot of $291.4 million".
Powerball is offered in 44 States, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In 2013, a sole ticket claimed a $383 million Powerball jackpot.
While there is only one winning ticket, it is not known yet if that ticket is held by one person, or multiple people.
It was the largest jackpot for any USA lottery since January, when three Powerball tickets split a record $1.6 billion.
This Saturday's Powerball jackpot is now sitting at $415 million, or a $270 million cash option. According to CNN, the amount makes it the ninth biggest jackpot ever in the U.S. That was up from the 1.8 million winners in last Wednesday's drawing. In other words, don't cash out your kids' college fund to buy tickets. (Most people just choose to get random numbers.) There are various levels of payouts, but to win the ultimate jackpot, you have to match all five numbers plus the Powerball.
