Sergio Aguero is facing a potential three-match ban after throwing an elbow at Winston Reid on Sunday - and could miss the Manchester derby.
Television replays captured the Argentine throwing his arm towards Reid, but referee Andre Marriner missed the incident.
The incident, which happened as he challenged the West Ham defender for a long clearance, was not punished by referee Andre Marriner but could see him banned by the FA for games including the September 10 clash at Old Trafford.
Manchester City will hope that missing the games against Venezuela and Uruguay will give Aguero time to recover for their first game after the global break - the small matter of a trip to Old Trafford to play Manchester United. "He said he got something to the throat".
Any ban could see Aguero suspended from City's next match against Manchester United. The Football Association are likely to look at retrospective punishment should Marriner claim he did not see the incident. "I didn't know what it was about, but I know he couldn't talk (in the dressing room)", Noble, the midfielder, said.
The game also offered a rare chance for Samir Nasri, who appeared to be surplus to requirements under City's new management, to come on as a substitute and make an impact against West Ham. In the second half he was better but of course we are so pleased.
Asked what he had done for Sterling, Guardiola said: "Me? We showed the character we showed many times last season and if you put the quality on we are going to be good".
"My goal here at Manchester City every year is to win trophies". I try to adapt myself to what the manager wants as fast as possible.
Bilic, quoted on West Ham's official website, said: "I have praise for the team for the second-half performance".
