William and Kate send first joint tweet - via Morse code telegraph machine

It's unsurprising that the Duchess uses every opportunity to use her royal engagements as fashion shows: She knows that every camera is looking at her at all times.

"Wow, that must have been me, or Harry", William replied. NBC's Keir Simmons reports for TODAY from Whitehorse, Yukon.

Mr Bell, a former Commissioner of Yukon went on to tell the couple about the time he met Charles and Diana in the early 80s when the Prince and Princess of Wales were in Ottawa. The day will begin at 9:05 a.m. with a visit to the MacBride Museum, where they will learn about Yukon's history.

The couple were presented with traditional dancing vests for them and their children - symbols of a new relationship between the British monarchy and the small Heiltsuk First Nation community - which they later donned. He said pointing to phonics on large boards.

The vests are traditionally worn at major welcoming ceremonies called potlatch or when the community gathers together, so Kate with her white vest and William, who was given a black garment, will be able to take their place at any future celebrations.

William and Kate's tweet was their way of signing the museum's virtual guest book.

"There's a few sleepy bears here", William joked as he pointed to some of the children, aged between three and five.

William decide to get a closer look at the locomotive after hearing how his grandparents the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh had travelled in the last carriage of the train which was specially fitted out with a marble table for their 1959 visit.

The royals will then make their way by auto to Carcross, a town of fewer than 300 people.

The scenery along this drive is spectacular.

Upon arrival, William and Kate were greeted by First Nations dancers and took an alpine walk near Montana Mountain. "Relying on a great depth of knowledge and imagination, the creation of this device showcases how far we've come in terms of the technology behind the way we communicate, but also that when broken down, Twitter and the telegraph offer a similar solution to the same communication problem".
