Pacquiao loses belt to Horn in unanimous decision

Brissy Boy Jeff Horn Unfazed By Claims The Pacquiao Fight Was A Stitch-Up

The Australian secured a shock points win over Pacquiao in Brisbane on Sunday, although the unanimous verdict was questioned by many in the aftermath.

"I'm so happy, I can't explain my feelings", Horn said at ringside, before welcoming the prospect of a rematch.

Horn's trainer, Glenn Rushton, said that numerous comments made in the lead up to the fight were utterly disrespectful and Horn had proved he was fully capable of fighting against the world's best.

In no way overwhelmed by the biggest bout of his career in front of 50,000-plus fans at Suncorp Stadium, Horn kept trying to land heavy punches on Pacquiao throughout the match.

Others felt that Pacquiao was robbed of a victory, putting the blame on referee Mark Nelson and the three neutral judges from New York, Arizona and Argentina.

That is the plan from Manny Pacquiao's camp for the boxing legend, who controversially lost his WBO welterweight title to Australian Jeff Horn last Sunday. At 29, unheralded, unrated and flat-out laughed out by American pundits, Horn stunned the boxing world. With Horn charging forward all day, he ducked down and it was nearly inevitable one of them would be opened. Many believed he would crumble in the opening rounds, with his lack of big-time experience against A-grade opposition coming back to haunt him. "That was just my heart that kept me going", he said.

"In that ninth round, I was like "I don't know if I can handle any more of these rounds" but then he came back and he was just like a different person, it was just unbelievable", she said.

But Pacquiao's conditioning trainer, the Los Angeles-based former Australian heavyweight Justin Fortune, was critical of the referee and the judging.

"Very tough. That's the decision of the judges", Pacquiao said.

The two exhausted in the final rounds and when the final bell went the judges deemed that Horn had done enough in the early stages of the fight to claim his stunning victory. "If nobody is there I tend to not try very hard".

"I'd prefer to come back here and fight in Queensland or Australia, but there's always the chance of the fight could possibly be made in America".

The decision was met with criticisms not only in the Philippines but in the United States as well but Pacquiao insists that the 115-113 was fair enough.
