Damain Cudlin - Motegi 2011

Australia’s Damian Cudlin is a motorcycle racer in demand at the moment.

In the last few weeks the 28 year old has raced a production Superbike for his BMW team in the German IDM series, an endurance Superbike for BMW Motorrad in the Le Mans 24 and a Ducati Desmosedici for Pramac in the MotoGP in Japan.

Each bike used different tyres, different suspension and different electronic systems with team staff ranging from German to Italian.

Despite this Cudlin has handled himself well and, more importantly, not exactly done himself any harm on the bikes either!

Now the Australian finds himself back in the premier class where he’s hoping for better after crashing out on Loris Capriossi’s bike at Motegi.

Cudlin will be taking on the task of riding Hector Barbera’s bike, who underwent surgery on his broken collarbone yesterday, at Phillip Island in Australia.

This is a fabulous opportunity, and frankly I’m even struggling to believe it. For me it’s an honor to race in MotoGP, the best world championship, and even more wearing the colors of a team like Mapfre Aspar Team. My first experience was unforgettable in Japan and now, after just two weeks, I have another chance. Just last year I had the opportunity to race in the Australian GP, but in the intermediate class. I am very happy, I feel very lucky and I want to take advantage of every minute of this experience. The level of competition is very high, I realized that at Motegi. Thanks to that experience I’ll be at Phillip Island with a greater level of preparation, and since I already know the track, I will address the weekend with more confidence, “
