Ducati Recalls Multistrada

Ducati Multistrada 1200 ABS

Ducati North American has announced it is recalling the Ducati MTS1200, better known to you and me as the Multistrada.

According to the official recall information, “in the event the driver should downshift or maneuver with the clutch disengaged and the engine at idle, the vehicle could stall”.

They go on to advise the blatantly obvious “engine stalling could increase the risk of crash”.

Ducati owners are being asked to return the motorcycles to dealers who will re-flash the electronic control unit free of charge.

The safety recall is expected to begin during January 2011 and Ducati owners may contact 800-231-6696.

It’s not clear if this issue affects Multistrada’s outside of the US.

UPDATE: We have now received word from Ducati UK that this issue does affect Multistrada’s outside of the US. No advice, so probably best to contact your local dealer.
