England Rugby Star Has Triumph Street Triple Stolen In London

Triumph Bonneville

England rugby star, Steve Thompson, found that neither fame nor fortune makes you immune to the risk of theft when his beloved Triumph Street Triple was unexpectedly stolen in London. Steve – the most capped England International – was blissfully unaware that while he enjoyed a coffee with friends his worst nightmare was coming true just metres from where he was sitting.

Sadly, like many other motorcyclists, the London Wasps and World Cup-winning hooker had never planned for such an event and his prize possession was taken and never seen again. The 33 year-old reported the crime as soon as he became aware of the incident and the police reacted quickly, but sadly to no avail.

So, intent on not making the same mistake again, Steve has fitted a Bike Trac unit to his new Triumph Bonneville to ensure that he can keep track of his beloved machine 24 hours a day. The Bike Trac web portal will give Steve peace of mind that his bike is safe as he goes about his busy training schedule.

Bike Trac is a pioneering, Thatcham approved tracking device, which has been designed exclusively for the two-wheel industry. The discreet on-board motion detection unit is suitable for all types of bikes – on road and off-road – and monitors any unusual movements.

The clever accessory can detect whether your bike is moving and alerts the rider within a couple of minutes by text or email. The all-new bike down functionality is now available, which sends out an alert when the bikes goes through an angle of 70 degrees or more from vertical when the ignition is switched on. It has already been used to successfully help the police in recovering stolen motorcycles.

Since fitting the unit Steve commented “The feeling you get when your motorcycle is stolen is something you never forget and that is why I have fitted a Bike Trac unit to my new bike. The unit provides peace of mind in the fact that you are just a few clicks away from knowing where your bike is and where it has been. Having this unit fitted obviously won’t prevent my motorcycle being stolen and lets face it very little does, but it allows me to react if the circumstance does occur and gives me a very good chance of getting the bike recovered.

“The unit is so easy to install and set-up, if fits discreetly onto your motorcycle and provides seamless tracking 24 hours a day. It really allows you to enjoy your motorcycle rather than constantly worrying about it. I would recommend that all bikers make this investment. The unit can’t be seen on the bike so would-be motorcycle thieves better hope that the next Triumph they steal isn’t mine!”
