Bonfire night is sure to go with a bang for motorcycle racer, James Webb, this year when he is handed a brand new Harley-Davidson® XR1200X® motorcycle – the prize he earned for clinching a championship title aboard an Oxford Harley-Davidson machine this year.
Webb was crowned the 2011 Harley-Davidson XR1200 Trophy race series champion, after a nail-biting double-header at Donington Park in September. Webb clinched the championship by just two points ahead of rival Pesky Pete Ward who, despite two race wins at the Leicestershire circuit, couldn’t steal the championship.
Kent rider Webb has a strong pedigree in racing having competed in a variety of domestic and world championships. His younger brother Danny, who was at Donington Park to witness his big brother’s victory, is currently competing in the 125 class of the blue riband MotoGP class.
The 22-year-old will be given the motorcycle at the Oxford Harley-Davidson showroom in Wootton Road at 3pm on 5th November. Team Manager, Gavin Cupit, a Harley-Davidson Master Technician at the Oxford business and his fellow team mechanic Elliott Andrews who works for sister business Cheltenham Harley-Davidson will be in attendance to celebrate with their star rider.
“Winning the XR1200 championship was amazing for me,” said Webb. “It will be a great stepping stone for my racing career. It’s testament to the hard work of Gavin and Elliott of Blade Harley-Davidson that I took the championship. I can’t wait to get my hands on the bike and get a feel for the road-going version of the bike that I raced all year!”
All are welcome to come along to the dealership to meet James and the rest of the team as well as having the opportunity to see the championship-winning bike at close quarters.
