Jorge Lorenzo Visits Indonesia

Jorge didn't have to look far if he forgot his name

As Valentino Rossi has been hogging the limelight recently, Jorge Lorenzo decided that he wanted in.

The Mallorcan rider has been in Indonesia, which is a key market for Yamaha and one of the most important globally for the brand, for his fourth visit, his first as MotoGP World Champion.

Lorenzo has been doing his bit as Yamaha rider buy introducing two new models to the market, the Jupiter MX and Lexam electric moped.

Lorenzo was there with representatives from Yamaha Motor Kencana Indonesia (YMKI) who are the Yamaha Factory Racing Team’s official sponsor, which is the ‘Semakin Di Depan’ slogan on the side of the bike. It means ‘One Step ahead’ if you’re interested.

After revealing the bikes, there was a TV shoot, a photo shoot and, very oddly, a face mould session for a wax statue that will be placed at the entrance of one of the biggest and fastest roller-coaster of the world in Bandung.

“It’s a great pleasure for me to be here in Indonesia again,” said Lorenzo, “a place that I love and where people love me. I am honoured to attend the presentation of these two new models, the Jupiter MX and the Lexam, both as testimonial and as Yamaha’s ambassador. I hope that my presence here gives a strong push to YMKI sales in Indonesia. It gives me great pleasure that my fourth visit to Indonesia is also the first one as MotoGP World Champion and is a way to thank you all for the passion and the enthusiasm you have always showed to me. ‘Semakin Di Depan’ is advice I took to my heart last season, staying one step ahead to take the title.

I will be spending my last (and only) winter holidays here in Indonesia until the first test of the season starts in Malaysia. I am sure I will have a great time here and especially some rest and time for training.

Honestly, having seen such evidence of the passion of the Indonesian people for MotoGP, I truly hope that MotoGP comes back to Indonesia soon. While waiting for it, I will probably have to organize some clinics here for young riders so that the passion for riding rises more and more.

Finally, I would like to thank Beti-san and Seto-san for their invitation to me and I would like to thank the Indonesian people for their warm welcome. Again, this year, I will do my best during the MotoGP season to justify your courtesy and to thank you all for your invaluable support to me”.

Lorenzo’s next step is Bali for more press business where he’ll stay until the Malaysia MotoGP tests in Sepang on the 1st February.
