Remy Electric Motors and MotoCzysz have collaborated in the development of the all new D1g1tal Dr1ve, which both manufacturers claim is the world’s most advanced electric drive system for electric cars and light duty trucks and vans. Proprietary MotoCzysz integration technology and Remy’s electric drive motor have been combined in, what they say is the most advanced, complete electric drive system available in the industry today. The D1g1tal Dr1ve will be unveiled at the World Electric Vehicle Symposium in Shenzhen, China in the Remy exhibit space, 2R021.
The D1g1tal Dr1ve was conceived from the perspective of an EV manufacturer. It is a complete system of matched integrated components - including motor, controller, proprietary cooling system, final drive and differential - enclosed in a lightweight aluminum shell designed to deliver unprecedented efficiency and compactness. The D1g1tal Dr1ve achieves a level of integration never before available and stands alone as the easiest and quickest solution for any manufacturer needing an electric drive system. Manufacturers are tasked only with providing power to the unit and connecting their final drive to the D1g1tal Dr1ve, significantly reducing the time and cost of bringing their vehicles to market.
“The D1g1tal Dr1ve is not just a new product, but the first model in a new category of products - integrated electric drives. We are proud to have partnered with Remy and designed the D1g1tal Dr1ve around their industry leading HVH250 electric motor. Together, we are the first to offer a complete integrated, next generation electric drive system,” said CEO Michael Czysz.
“Scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2011, manufacturers can get their first look at the revolutionary D1g1tal Dr1ve in the Remy Electric Motors booth at the 2010 EVS25 show in Shenzhen, China November 5 - 8,” added Czysz.
Currently, other electric drive systems comprise individual components which are wired together, requiring space for the components and wiring. Integration of the system into a vehicle requires sophisticated engineering strategies. The D1g1tal Dr1ve matches and optimizes all the necessary components in a single elegant solution enclosed in a compact shell for optimal space utilization. System integration of high performance components is the priority and principal reason for creating the D1g1tal Dr1ve.
“The D1g1tal Dr1ve provides a simple powertrain solution for EV manufacturers. It is a complete, compact electric drive solution that is easy to install. Despite its small size, the Remy HVH 250 motor inside ensures the D1g1tal Dr1ve makes no sacrifice in power. And, the Remy motor is backed by the security of over a billion miles of proven reliability,” said Remy CEO John Weber.
New advantages that come with the D1g1tal Dr1ve include the ease and speed of adaptation and installation for EV manufacturers. The D1g1tal Dr1ve allows manufacturers to dramatically reduce the design cycle and development budget necessary to incorporate a traditional system of individual components. The work has already been done for customers, so they can receive a sophisticated, quality “plug and play” system.
In addition to reduced installation and assembly time, the D1g1tal Dr1ve improves system durability and makes service and warranty work easier and less costly. For example, all the electronics are mounted on a single chassis allowing for installation in less than 30 minutes.
There is no sacrifice of power with the D1g1tal Dr1ve’s compact packaging. The D1g1tal Dr1ve is the smallest packaging solution available for an integrated electric drive system while producing up to 1150 N-m of torque and 75kW of power with the Remy HVH 250 motor.
Finally, the D1g1tal Dr1ve’s integration provides the benefit of increased efficiency and safety for OEMs and conversion companies producing electric vehicles.
There is a full range of D1g1tal Dr1ve models currently in different stages of testing and design to suit the specific electric power needs of small commuting vehicles, larger luxury sedans, light- and medium-duty vans and trucks and extreme super cars. The first model of the D1g1tal Dr1ve, the D1, is targeted for compact electric vehicles and light duty vans and trucks.
