The Race
Jorge Lorenzo won what was, in the end, a thrilling race in Jerez. Dani Pedrosa got a good start from pole position and lead for the majority of the race, in fact it was only on the final lap that Lorenzo passed him.
Valentino Rossi had a good race finishing on the podium and it was some good championship points for him as he battled with the bike setup and his shoulder injury all weekend.
Nicky Haden and Casey Stoner on the Ducati’s had a puzzling race as they were some way off the pace, with Hayden crossing the line in fourth some nine seconds off the lead, Stoner was right behind ten seconds off the leaders.
Mika Kallio had a great race to finish in seventh whilst his team mate Aleix Espargaro came off, got back on the bike, went into the pit lane twice but kept going amid rumours Pramac aren’t happy with either of their riders.
In the end it came down to battling between Lorenzo and Pedrosa as they swapped paint and leather on the final two laps. Lorenzo muscled his way down the inside as Dani ran wide hitting the dirt on the corner from the previous Moto2 race incident to give Lorenzo the lead and the win.
