MSS Colchester Kawasaki look to put a difficult Snetterton behind them as they aim for good results at Oulton Park, a circuit that Stuart Easton achieved a fantastic double podium at earlier in the year.
In the first running of the race in May, Stuart took a third and second giving the new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R some early success and the MSS squad a best ever race weekend. However with the Scottish ace still convalescing from injuries sustained in the North West 200 road race, the team’s two riders Gary Mason and Alex Lowes know the machine has good speed at the sinuous Cheshire circuit.
Gary is keen to return to the form he showed at the Croft and Knockhill rounds and will be helping promote the event with the race organisers, at a special event in Chester town centre. Gary’s young teammate Alex Lowes has lots to prove after showing great potential marred by crashes and he returns from a point scoring ride n the World Superbike Championship in Brno.
Gary Mason (Championship position: 10th) said, “This was the race earlier in the year where we really started to believe in the bike, Stuart was in mega form so we know the bike can go well round there. Snetterton didn’t go as it should have but we have another chance here. I always try and stay positive and you know the results can come”
Alex Lowes (Championship position: 17th) said, “I think I learnt quite a bit at the WSB round this weekend and hopefully that can help me in BSB. I remember watching how well the bike worked with Stuey at Oulton and I love the track, so hopefully I can get a good result for Kawasaki up North!”
National Superstock 1000 riders Danny Buchan and team mate Howie Mainwaring have been in great form with both riders again standing on the podium at Snetterton but since then Danny crashed in European Superstock injuring his shoulder. The 18 year old rider from Essex will be riding steady and attempting to score points as he defends his Championship lead.
Danny Buchan (Championship position: 1st) said, “I love Oulton but I need to see how hard I can push with my shoulder. I have been having laser treatment and have plenty lined up in the build-up to the event. No predictions I just need to see how we get on.”
Howie Mainwaring (Championship position: 5th) said, “I was running real well at Oulton last time and slipped off, so I’m glad I can go back and rectify that. A few rounds ago my Championship position was so terrible but now it’s fourth and I really believe if I put some good rounds together I could be up there at the end.”
Team owner Nick Morgan summed up, “I’ve been looking forward to Oulton Park because we know how well the bike worked there only a couple of months ago so we have no excuses. Gary and Alex both have the ability combined with the new bike to run right up the front as they both have at times, we just need the consistency and some top six results. Danny and Howie have been in mega form but this is going to be a serious ask for Danny, we’ll just have to wait and see.”
