Steve McQueen Husqvarna Up For Sale

Steve McQueen on the cover of Sports Illustrated August 1971

In August 1971 (for some reason I want to start writing the start of the A-Team here?) an issue of Sports Illustrated was released.

On the cover of the magazine featured none other than the ‘King of Cool’, Steve McQueen riding a 1971 Husqvarna 400 and Bonhams’ auction house have, what is thought to be, that very motorcycle available for sale.

The bike was originally purchased from the Steve McQueen Estate Sale in 1984 at Harrah’s Auto Collection in Las Vegas.

In addition to its title of former owner, authentic documentation and immortal association, the Swedish-made dirt bike – which son Chad McQueen reportedly said was his father’s favorite off-road brand – comes with a wooden trunk of accessories as owned by McQueen

Other McQueen ephemera will be offered at the sale including numerous racing trophies won by this legend of the silver screen.

The Quail Motorcycle Gathering will be hosted on May 14th at Quail Lodge in Carmel, California and will see Bonhams’ sale of “Exceptional Motorcycles & Related Memorabilia” get under way.
