Two time World Superbike champion Troy Corser has announced his retirement from racing.
The final race for the Australian will be the final World Superbike races this weekend at Portimao.
Corser, 40, has been in the World Superbikes for 20 years and won the championships in 1996 and 2005 as well as taking 33 race wins, 130 podiums and 43 pole positions.
BMW Motorrad will role out a ‘crocodile green livery’ paint job as a nod to Corser this weekend.
It has already been announced that Marco Melandri will join Leon Haslam at BMW next year, it’s thought Corser will remain as a development rider.
Speaking on Twitter Corser said: “Retirement is not a word I would normally use.finishing my bike racing career and starting a new career at 40 sounds better. Racer forever”
“Well done on the pole Johnny Rea. Thanks leon been great to work along side of you mate. Great team mate. Hope the little man is ok next yr” he finished.
