As TTXGP gets ready for the Final in Albacete, it looks forward to 2011 with a shakeup of the format and the tweaking of the rules
TTXGP is now well on the way for 2011 with some changes to racing format driven by the experiences of 2010.
In partnership with the TTXGP Technical Panel, and the contributions from the Wiki.eGrandPrix.Com, we have also brought in some changes to the rules that will drive the twin missions of safety and racing in a sensible and meaningful way.
Format Highlights:
- 2 races per weekend (up from the current 1)
- 2 classes per race (up from the current 1)
- Formula GP takes the current class forward only with a reduction in the max overall weight to 250kg (from 300kg). This is to encourage improvements in long term power to weight ratios and is a better fit for direct premium end road applications.
- A brand new class for 2011: Formula 75. This limits the amount of stored energy to 7.5KwH and the max overall weight to 200kg. TTXGP has been looking to make racing more affordable but still keep the thrill of the racing with the dynamics of technological innovation. F75 sets out to create a milestone for new teams focused on efficiency.
- We keep the National and Regional Championship qualifiers with a single World Championship final.
We have also made significant strides in safety and in 2011 we will be introducing new features to continue making the need for speed as safe as possible.
Highlights are:
- An additional 3rd safety cut-off in the form of a lanyard attached to the rider and the bike.
- Clarification and tightening of the TTXGP standards for emergency cut-off switches.
We owe thanks to the members of the TTXGP Technical Rules Wiki community who introduced some of these ideas to the series. At the time when we took the WikiSnap in August, we had more than 85,000 page views with 650 contributions. Among those active users were teams, motorcycle racers, engineers, and EV enthusiasts. The Wiki has been a real step forward in our invitation to “Be Part of It” and we will continue to run it under the able eyes of Harry Mallin, @eMotoRules.
