Belarus. Home of…er…well Belarusians? But now, thanks to a man known as Yuri Shif, it can lay claim to being home of the two time winner DUster custom Ducati machine.
After winning the Best Streetfighter trophy at the last Custombike show in Germany, Yuri’s bike has now gone on to win the Best International Builder award at the 2010 Verona expo in Italy.
The bike may be called a Ducati custom but only the engine, from a Monster, and the transmission are actually from Ducati. The frame, bodywork and swingarm suspension are Shif’s own creations and the front fork is a modified Showa item. Custom perimeter brakes give the wheels a clean profile. It’s to Shif’s huge credit that he has achieved success in a country without a mainstream custom culture, and without a huge network of parts designers and suppliers.
