Facebook Adds New 'Thankful' Reaction on Mother's Day

Facebook tests its first new reaction just for Mother's Day

The special feature marks the first time the company has offered a temporary reaction, and comes three months after it expanded the like button to include a range of other responses.

The company has added a new flower button which appears next to the text messaging box which animates your message with flowers. "The feature will become available by May 7 latest, and will go away after Mother's Day on May 9".

The social network is rolling out a couple special features for Mother's Day, including an experimental flower reaction and a feature that lets users send flowers via Messenger.

"To celebrate Mother's Day, we are testing the ability for people in a few markets to leave a flower reaction", said Facebook in a statement.

Apart from the decorating messages, Facebook is also testing a new reaction for the Mother's day on Sunday. Some people believe that the event based purple flower could just be the beginning of event based emojis on Facebook. But even after it's gone, you'll still be able to see whenever someone chose to use the "thankful" flower as a reaction. It is through the "purple flower" temporary reaction icon to express the feeling of gratitude and affection.

Facebook told Verge that United States of America is not among the countries that the new reactions button will be visible on May 8th.
