Will not forget Uri, ready to fight 1000-year war: Modi

US senator Mc Cain discusses Indo Pak tension with former president Asif Ali Zardari

Kozhikode: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday squarely targetted Pakistan, saying India will not forget the sacrifices of 18 soldiers killed in the Uri terror attack and will work to isolate Pakistan globally for exporting terror.

"I want to speak to the people of Pakistan".

He added that one country in the region was standing in the way of Asia's growth, and that news of terrorism always included a mention of that nation. "Be it Afghanistan, Bangladesh or other nations, we have seen whenever the news of terror incidents comes, terrorists have either gone from this country (Pakistan) or have settled there after committing the crime", he said.

"There is a country in Asia which is conspiring that there is bloodbath across Asia, so that the whole Asia comes in the grip of terrorism and innocents are killed", the Prime Minister said, without directly taking the name of Pakistan.

"Modi said he wanted to ask the people of Pakistan that their leaders had talked of waging a 1,000 year war with India". "You know, obviously, the United States strongly condemns acts of terrorism around the world", he said. PoK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir) is with you, you can't even manage that.

He indicated that India's efforts will be directed at isolating Pakistan diplomatically, saying it has already succeeded in this regard and will speed up measures in this regard.

3/ A day will come when the people of Pakistan will fight against the home-grown terrorism. Only one country in Asia is safe haven for terrorists.

"At a time when India is threatening Pakistan, involved in terrorist activities and firing on our borders, there's need for formulating a national strategy while taking Parliament into confidence", he added. He said his government will strive hard to end poverty and make India prosperous as envisioned by Jan Sangh founder Deen Dayal Upadhyay whose centenary celebration starts tomorrow.
