Samsung faces potential class action in US over Note 7

The suit, filed Sunday in the U.S. District Court of New Jersey, claims that, on aggregate, people who bought or were financing Galaxy Note 7 phones lost over $5 million.

According to a research firm based in South Korea, Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphones have been the highest selling smartphones in the region in October. The recall is estimated to have cost the company billions of dollars.

Samsung attempted to undo the situation by administering a recall program that lets users trade their current Galaxy Note 7 devices for a replacement unit.

Given the Samsung Group's stature within Asia's fourth-largest economy - it accounts for around 17 per cent of GDP - the Note 7 debacle has had a national impact.

The refund programme in India comes right after Samsung announced the global halt of production of the Galaxy Note 7 over exploding batteries.

The company is offering up to $100 in bill credit to consumers who exchange their Note 7s for any Samsung smartphone in the United States.

The South Korean tech giant's head has promised to do everything possible in finding the root of the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. Unless, you looking to conduct a heists or something, and are in need of an explosive device.

September 8 - US Federal Aviation Administration advises passengers to not turn on or charge Note 7 smartphones aboard aircraft or stow them in plane cargo.

The existing Note 7 stock has been pulled from the market by Samsung Gulf.

Samsung is yet to comment on the proposed legal action.

"(Samsung) said it carried out a recall after prioritising the safety of customers.

Samsung has instructions for how to replace or refund phones on its website.

However, it has yet to give a plausible explanation for the cause of the Note 7 explosions reported by consumers across the world.
