2010 Multistrada, VFR & Diversion Motorcycles to Feature at Heart of England Bike Show
Wednesday, April 7th, 2010The second annual Heart of England Bike Show is set to offer a comprehensive range of free rider assessments to everyone from complete beginners on mopeds, to the most experienced motorcycling enthusiasts on bigger bikes.
The free one-day event on Sunday 9th May will again be held at the Heritage Motor Centre near Gaydon, with the aim of offering a balance of great entertainment and access to industry experts for advice about training, protective clothing and road safety issues in general.
Full licence holders will have access to more than twenty different demo bikes, supplied by Ducati, Honda, Yamaha, Triumph and Royal Enfield, including the eagerly awaited 2010 Multistrada, VFR 1200 and XJ6 Diversion. BikeSafe will be running short guided ride-outs so that motorcyclists get the added benefit of a free assessment whilst trying something new; although they can use their own machines.
Event Organiser from Warwickshire Road Safety Partnership, Stephen Rumble explains;-
“We have organised a range of activities for the benefit of all motorcyclists and anyone thinking about buying a first bike. The Try-Before-You-Buy Scooter Zone will appeal to young riders wanting a few hints and tips, as well as those seeking guidance before purchasing a first bike. Anyone thinking of returning to two wheels can talk to manufacturers and local dealers about the latest machines and best protective clothing, whilst riding assessors will be on hand to talk about refresher courses. For experienced enthusiasts, The Paddocks will host manufacturers, dealers, demo bikes, display machines and the BikeSafe marquee“.
The overall aim of the event is to reduce casualties among moped and motorcycle riders in Warwickshire. One of the ways the show will hope to influence all riders is by encouraging the take up of assessment and training schemes to improve riding skills all round. Stephen Rumble continues;-
“All of the on-bike activities will be free and none involve the pressure of a test with a ‘pass’ or ‘fail’ at the end of it. Rider assessments are designed simply to establish how well you ride and where you can improve. Riding a bike is enjoyable and self development is beneficial; we are just combining the two at a dedicated and fun day out“.
The event will be held at the Heritage Motor Centre near Gaydon, on Sunday 9th May from 10.00am until 5.00pm. Entry and parking are free.
