Speaking to news reporters in India on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police, Vikram Jeet Duggal said that Suresh had facilitated for 15 kidney donations for which he got some Rs 50,000 to Rs one lakh as commission for getting each donor while the donor was given Rs 5 lakh.
Nalgonda: An worldwide racket in sale of kidneys has been busted by police in Nalgonda district of Telangana and four persons, including an agent and donors, who allegedly indulged in sale of human organs, have been arrested.
Suresh reportedly came across a website, ineedkidney.com, in November 2014 and through the site went for tests to Gujarat. He initially sold his own kidney for Rs 5 lakh in December 2014.
Addressing the media, he said the main accused Kadparaju Suresh (22) and three of his accomplices convinced the victims to sell their kidneys for money. The money was sent through online bank transfers by recruiting agents to the donors and the agents who transferred them to Colombo, they said. Sensing a lucrative business opportunity, Kasparaju returned to Nalgonda after a four-month recovery period and chose to turn agent for similar transplants.
He said that the sale of kidneys was going on clandestinely, through online and social networks such as whatsapp.
Kasparaju Suresh apart fromhimself, trafficked 15 persons and he earned almost Rs 10 lakh and was leading a lavish life purchasing a auto, motor cycle. Abdul Hafeez, Palem Mahesh and Kothapalli Naresh, all aged in their twenties and thirties. All three were young donors.Hafeez's family was unable to understand how the youngster, despite quitting his job, was able to afford a vehicle.
The report also adds that all these transplants were carried out in three major Colombo hospitals: Nawalok Hospital, Western Hospital, and Lankan Hospital. Most of the victims belonged to Nalgonda, Hyderabad, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Mumbai and New Delhi, the SP said.
