FBI says it's evaluating abuse allegations against Pitt

The fallout from the breakdown of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's marriage continues.

"We have no criminal investigation that we are actively pursuing", Montgomery said.

"It's unfortunate for the whole family that people are insisting on continuing this endless smear campaign against Brad that hurts everyone".

The news comes only hours after it was revealed that Brad is reportedly being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation over claims he verbally and physically abused one of his children whilst drunk on a private jet.

Officials for the Los Angeles Police Department said the department is not investigating Pitt.

"LAPD is not handling any report or allegations into child abuse for Mr. Brad Pitt", noted a spokesperson for the department Thursday.

Now a source has told People magazine that there had been a row between the 52-year-old and Angelina on the private jet, with the family on board.

According to a source who saw the video, "Brad is seen yelling a lot during it, but nothing physical".

Pitt was on a plane that landed at the International Falls, Minnesota, airport on September 14, local sheriff Perryn Hedlund said.

Jolie, 41, and the couple's other five children were allegedly also present for the incident, which is also being investigated by the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services.

TMZ broke the news first, reporting that Pitt and his family were flying on a private plane from an undisclosed location. "That investigation is ongoing", TMZ reported. He allegedly went wild, screaming and getting physical with the children, the report says. "He is emphatic that it did not reach the level of physical abuse, that no one was physically harmed", the source stated.

In divorce papers filed on September 19, Jolie cited "irreconcilable differences" as her reason for divorcing Pitt.

"While this was not his best moment, it's being inaccurately described", a source close to Pitt previously told the Daily News.

The source called the allegations "exaggerated or fabricated" and said Pitt never touched the boy.
