A bumper 2010 season awaits
Monday, January 4th, 2010With seven competing manufacturers and a host of proven race and championship winners coming back for more, World Superbike is about to present yet more thrills and spills in its 23rd year of unbroken global competition for racing bikes derived from series production.
In the confirmed rider line-up so far are proven winning World Superbike stars like Noriyuki Haga, Max Biaggi, James Toseland, Michel Fabrizio, Jonathan Rea, Chris Vermeulen, Max Neukirchner, Troy Corser, Ruben Xaus, Andrew Pitt, Shane Byrne and Carlos Checa.
Cal Crutchlow, Leon Camier, Leon Haslam, Sylvain Guintoli, Tom Sykes, Roger Lee Hayden and others will all be going for their first race wins in the top category, with Crutchlow (World Supersport) and Camier (British Superbike) arriving as champions of 2009.
Last year, Aprilia, Ducati, Honda and Yamaha machines all won at least one race and this year, from the first round in Australia on 28th February to the last at Magny-Cours in France on October 3rd, there will be a host of opportunities for any would-be champion to make his indelible mark in the results.
The WSB calendar consists of 13 rounds, with the two official pre-season tests to be held at Portimao (Portugal) between January 22 and 24, and Phillip Island (Australia) on February 21 and 22.
