Harley Davidson Shares Gain on Take Takeover Talks
Tuesday, March 16th, 2010Harley Davidson share jumped by 6% today as rumours emerged that they are the target of a takeover.
Harley have so far refused to comment on the rumours but at least one analyst has said it’s ‘highly unlikely’.
Speculation started early on the New York Stock Exchange with rumours that Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) was the potential bidder and this was hightened further when KKR declined to comment on the speculation.
“We don’t comment on deal speculation” a KKR spokesman said.
Harley Davidson are currently going through a period of restructure which involves the lay-off of thousands of workers and consolidating production. A buyer now would have to be sure that this process is going to yield results and that the global markets will turn around.
