Mappin & Webb Robbery

We know that what we should be reporting on here is the fact that five men (or women) made a smash and grab raid on West End jewellery store Mappin & Webb at the corner of Piccadilly and Old Bond Street. We should be saying that this was at 11am in the monring, in central London. The thieves grabbed handfuls of gems and watches worth an estimated £50,000.

One of the gang began smashing the plate glass window with a sledgehammer, which took him five minutes to get through the toughened security glass. Once the glass was smashed the alarm went off and anti-theft smoke billowed out. Though that in know way made one passer by even look up!

However, we’re more interested in the motorcycles the gang chose. Two of the bikes look like KTM’s, perhaps EXC’s or SMC’s? Surely not an SX, a 50cc for a theft? Doubtful. The third bike is obviously a Suzuki GSXR, pinning down the size is a different matter. We reckon something like a 2004 750? Anyone improve?
