Potholes and Road Surfaces

Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

Little old us asked you to send us your pothole pics for quite some time now, recently both MCN and now the BBC are also asking you to send in your pics. They’re a bit bigger then us so we’ll let them take things from here. But we we’re first! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8454514.stm

Have you had enough of the UK’s roads? Want to vent your anger in picture form? Want to actually do something about it?

Recently we’ve seen an increase in the amount of unfilled ’significant’ potholes on our roads or generally bad quality road surfaces. Some would have no problems throwing you off your bike if you hit them, and it’s not as if the potholes aren’t in the centre of the road either!

So, help us out. If you’ve got a bad surface or pothole picture (or a picture of damage caused), send it to us, together with your name and where the picture was taken and we’ll put it up for the whole world to see. If your picture has something in it to gauge the scale of the pothole, even better!

If you want to report the pothole, see how on this page from Direct Gov. Please send us your pictures to: holymoly@stayontheblack.com

Jonathan Daily from Hertfordshire sent us this lovely piece of work on Cow Lane near Tring. Dacorum borough council need to pull their finger out! James Scott highlights this peach on Rouncil Lane in Kenilworth - if the first don’t get ya, the second will!
Dean sends us this doozy on the appropriately named Broken Green Road in Hertfordshire - thanks for the measure of scale too! John send in this fag packet dwarfing moon crater on Downham Road in Essex. Really, smoking and potholes, they just don’t mix kids!

There’s some fantastic potholes near me in Bournemouth, mind you can’t seem them now cos of the snow. This latest dusting is going to make things even worse for bikers!
