Rossi Nominated in Laureus World Sports Awards
Friday, February 19th, 2010Fiat Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi has been nominated in the Laureus World Sports Awards, taking place on March 10th in Abu Dhabi.
Rossi, fresh from his ninth grand prix win last year, is up against the crème-de-la-crème of athletes from around the world for the award which is judged by a jury of 46 top sports experts.
This years nominees list includes; 2009 winner Usain Bolt, tennis ace Roger Federer (who has won the award four times already), FIFA World Footballer of the Year Lionel Messi, cyclist Alberto Contador and Jenson Button in the World Breakthrough category.
“We have had some thrilling world championships this year and a host of terrific individual performances. I congratulate all the nominees and now we look forward to what should be a great awards ceremony,” said academy chairman Edwin Moses.
