Tommy Hill - Mallory Park 2010

Round seven of the British Superbikes Championship takes the Worx Crescent Suzuki team to Snetterton in Norfolk this weekend.

For Yukio Kagayama it’s a return to battle after missing the Knockhill round due to a hand injury he picked up at Mallory Park. Kagayama reports that he feels fully recovered and is looking forward to getting back on track, at a circuit where he’s won before, back in 2004.

Tommy Hill will be looking to make good on some of the losses he’s experienced at the last two rounds where technical issues and an under-par wet weather performance cost him his championship lead. But with three races to look forward to – with the re-run of the abandoned second race from Knockhill taking place at Snetterton on the Saturday afternoon – he knows there’s plenty of scope to collect more podiums and more points.

Jack Valentine, team manager: “It’s good to get Yuki back and at a circuit he likes and has won on. He’ll miss the first race on the Saturday as only those riders who were on the grid at Knockhill can take part, but he’ll be fired up for the two on Sunday.

“We’ve had our fair share of frustrations this last couple of rounds and technical issues cost us the first race at Mallory Park and impacted on Tommy’s performance in the second. Then we suffered tyre wear issues in the wet at Knockhill. The team’s been working on these issues and we feel we’ll be better prepared come this weekend. Tommy’s stayed focused throughout and has been mature enough to know there are plenty more races to come and he’s still in the best position to take this championship. Fundamentally the GSX-R1000 is still a winning machine and with three races at Snetterton he’s 75 championship points and 9 podium points to shoot at, so a lot can happen over this weekend. We’re looking forward to it.”
