Volta Hammarhead Electrifies Royal Enfield
Tuesday, May 4th, 2010Autoblog recently got the chance to spend some time with the new 2010 Royal Enfield and were impressed with the machine’s transformation from an old-but-charismatic 1950s design to a new-and-charismatic 1950s design.
Still, even if you love it, it’s not going to be for you if you’re one of these people who believe burning fossil fuels is as bad as the new Jennifer Lopez movie.
However, fear not, for there is an answer. Hammarhead Industries will sell you a fully electric two-wheeler based on the 2002-2009 Royal Enfield Bullet chassis for $18,500.
That price tag does put it at nearly four times over the cost of a new 2010 Enfield, so what do you get for your hard earned money?
Well the electric drive system was designed and built by Enertrac and includes a MHM-62 motor along with a 102-volt lithium polymer battery pack that offers 6kW of power.
