Hillary Clinton has far more support among Millennials than Donald Trump. They're ignoring the medical reports. But after the debate, four of the six undecided voters said they now leaned toward Clinton after she showed mastery of the issues and appeared more presidential. But her support from voters ages 18 to 35 has declined by double digits since August, raising an urgent question for Democrats: Why are millennial voters so reluctant to embrace Clinton?
Everyone is talking about the first presidential debate, and the reports and polls haven't been kind to Trump.
"Everybody gets sick", said Sherri Smart, 56, of NY.
If voting for a third party is a wasted vote because that person can't win, then I submit to you that voting for a second party candidate who can't win is a waste as well. "I've heard from so many of you about the hard choices you face and the stresses that you're under".
Seven percent of voters say they've lost or ended a friendship because of this year's presidential race.
A large number of "Obama Surge" voters, in the terminology of Steve Phillips in his bestselling book Brown is the New White, who are progressive and should be reliably in Clinton's camp, remain unenthusiastic and unconvinced that Clinton will be an effective and forceful enough agent of change on the issues they care about most. Millennials strongly support gender equality even more strongly than they do racial equality, so backing the first female candidate for president from a major party should be a no-brainer.
The president also spoke about Trump's insults to former Miss Universe Alicia Machado.
Clinton and Trump, perhaps better known as @HillaryClinton and @realdonaldtrump to the masses, have both chosen to use this clear draw toward social media to their advantage.
The Democratic nominee highlighted her divide with Trump over climate change on the University of New Hampshire's campus Wednesday - telling the crowd she "never thought when I gave my acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention that I would have to put in the following sentence: I believe in science". Most (57%) say it is not doing enough. The Clinton Foundation has taken millions of dollars from foreign sources, to whom she now owes favors. But Monday she rebutted Trump's talk of stamina by wondering if he could match her grueling schedule as a secretary of state traveling to 112 countries, negotiating peace deals, spending 11 hours testifying before a congressional committee.
"We know it's a rigged system". Neither has released their actual medical records, just a summary from their personal physicians with no way to know if anything important was left out.
Trump's announcement that he now believes President Obama was born in the USA did not affect their opinion of him, 78 percent of likely voters say.
The next morning, Trump's campaign manager said Trump doesn't believe what almost all climate scientists consider a fact: that human activity is contributing to the warming of the earth.
"The public is feeding off the impressions they've received, but that's not borne out by the letters of health", said Dr. Howard Selinger, chair of family medicine at Quinnipiac University.
The AP-GfK survey of 1,476 registered voters was conducted September 15th through 19th and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.7 percentage points.
The last time a Republican carried Virginia was 2004, when Republican George W. Bush defeated Democrat John Kerry by 8 points, and did so with 95 percent of the GOP vote.
