Leonard, Spurs spoil Durant's Warriors debut with blowout

The addition of Kevin Durant makes the Warriors perhaps the most hated team in NBA History to start a season

The Warriors are still expected to win a bunch of games. but they have to address the big man issue really quick if they are to go deep into the playoffs, let alone win the championship. This team started last season with 24 straight wins and didn't lose a home game until April.

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson both failed to hit the heights of their best form of previous year, when they helped the Warriors to a historic National Basketball Association record of 73 wins against only nine losses.

Missing out on the greatest championship season ever stung, but signing KD made everything right with the world for Bay Area fans. LeBron James notched his 43rd career triple-double, and according to ESPN Stats & Information, recorded the most assists (14) in a triple-double in a season-opening game since Oscar Robertson had 15 in the 1963-64 season.

Just minutes into the game, Durant would hit his first shot with the Warriors. It's too bad no one else on the Warriors did, as the Warriors lost their first home game of the season- something they did not do until April a year ago (36-0).

The game started out not badly for the Dubs, as they exposed the Spurs' marquee signing this offseason, Pau Gasol early, who just couldn't cover the 3-point line.

Golden State has some kinks to work out, but it's important to remember that this was just one game.

Joe Johnson scored 29 points in his debut with the Jazz and Rodney Hood added 26, including a rim-rattling dunk in the third quarter. The Warriors have added Kevin Durant, while the Spurs saw Tim Duncan retire. San Antonio also got an excellent showing off the bench from Jonathan Simmons (20 points and four rebounds), and former Warrior David Lee chipped in six points and six rebounds. This reminds when Golden State used to pull out within 50-42 in the second quarter before the San Antonio closed the half on a 14-4 run.

"It's a nice little slap in the face", said M.V.P.

Despite a revamped roster, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and the Golden State Warriors picked up where they left off at the end of the 2015-16 postseason: losing, this time to the San Antonio Spurs. And they picked up the convincing win against Golden State despite entering a new season without Tim Duncan for the first time in nearly two decades. "Even if things went awry", Popovich said. "We can't panic. It's Game 1 of 82".

Spurs: They visit Sacramento on Thursday as the Kings open their new arena, Golden 1 Center.
