Despite the introduction of new technological features on a variety of its 2011 motorcycles, Harley-Davidson UK has announced price cuts and freezes on many models for the new year. The reductions are part of the continued focus on ensuring Harley-Davidson motorcycles are accessible and affordable.

Savings of more than £700 will be available on the award-winning, performance-focused Night Rod® Special, while the price of the popular Softail® Cross Bones™ has been reduced by up to £400 to an on the road starting price of £14,550.

Models in the Softail family – including the recently re-introduced Deluxe – benefit from ABS as standard* in 2011, even though the price tag of each of the models has fallen by between £20 and £400.

A selection of motorcycles from the entry-level Sportster® family have also been made even more accessible with savings of up to £100 on the 883R, Nightster® and Forty-Eight™. The lowest-priced machine in the range – the Iron 883 – remains at less than £6,000 with a price freeze at a recommended on the road retail price of £5,990.

Enthusiasts of the Dyna® family also benefit with reductions to the Fat Bob® and the appeal of the V-Rod Muscle® receives more weight with a saving of up to £110. The XR1200X has received a small reduction to £9,300 and the standard production XR1200 recommended retail starting price has been frozen at £7,950.

Touring models gain power for 2011 with the introduction of the Twin Cam 103™ engine as a standard feature on the Electra Glide® Ultra Limited, Electra Glide Classic® and Street Glide®. All Touring models are fitted with abs (anti-lock braking system) as standard.

This has led to minor price increases on some machines in the Touring range. However, a price freeze has been implemented on the Electra Glide® Ultra Limited and the standard Road King Classic – without the optional engine upgrade – has benefited from a reduction of up to £640.

“We’re delighted to be able to introduce some price reduction for our customers in 2011,” says Harley-Davidson UK and Ireland Marketing Manager Jessica Tideswell. “We hope that the measures continue to help make Harley-Davidson ownership more accessible to new and existing customers.

“We have seen a huge growth in the popularity of customisation this year, so hopefully the lower price tags will help our customers achieve the bike of their dreams by freeing up some extra cash for the parts and accessories that they covet.”
