Valentino Rossi Interview
Friday, April 9th, 2010RoadRacerX has now published all parts of their exclusive interview with MotoGP star Valentino Rossi.
Quite a few interesting points have come out of it such as Rossi saying that the MotoGP races aren’t as thrilling as they used to be. He also says that racing production-based bikes in MotoGP is unthinkable and that today’s technology takes away much of the spectacle and many of the variables.
On the current style of racing versus the old 1000’s:
RRX: Right, the type that people miss [1000cc racing]. Whose fault is it?
VR: The 800s’, Bridgestone’s, and the electronics’. These factors have transformed bikes and the way that they’re ridden. Before, the bikes slid a lot, especially in the final laps, and then we had to go slower in the corners. Right there are two factors that bring the riders together and improve the show. Removing those elements, our races become more and more boring, so we’ve lost that advantage, in terms of the show, that we had over Formula 1.
RRX: Yes, passes are rare.
VR: Before, you could see more passes in just one 500 race than in an entire season of F1!
On newcomer Ben Spies:
VR: Very, very strong. He could put himself among us four (Pedrosa, Stoner, Lorenzo and Rossi) every now and then
On Honda’s current problems:
VR: Probably the riders aren’t precise enough in saying what’s needed to improve, but I don’t know how things work now at Honda.
