Is Brad Pitt being investigated... 10:24AM

FBI says it’s evaluating abuse allegations against Pitt

He and Jolie, 41, were together for 12 years (married for two) and they have six kids.

In spite of ongoing investigations, it seems almost certain Brad Pitt will not be prosecuted in the alleged assault against his 15-year-old son. Pitt is under investigation by United States authorities after being accused of physically and verbally abusing his children during an angry outburst, TMZ reported.

In the divorce filing, Jolie cited "irreconcilable differences" and listed their separation date as September 15, the day after the airplane incident allegedly happened. The London museum's head of marketing, Nimali Weerasinghe, says that they wanted to mirror Jolie and Pitt's separation in the attraction.

The incident is said to have been anonymously reported to the LA County Department of Children and Family Services.

As murky rumors continue to swirl around the sudden split of Hollywood A-listers Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has confirmed that it is gathering information surrounding an alleged incident involving Pitt and his children aboard a private plane September 14 - the day before the couple officially separated. Later, US Weekly revealed the plane had landed in Minnesota International Falls Airport to refuel. "He is emphatic that it did not reach the level of physical abuse, that no one was physically harmed", the source stated.

A source told the Independent that Pitt understood the seriousness of the matter and is "cooperating".

Jolie separated from Pitt the day following the alleged incident and filed for divorce a few days later.

The source also told the LA Times that the Los Angeles County Department of Children & Family Services is conducting an investigation into Pitt's behaviour.

In a statement after Jolie filed for divorce, Pitt told People magazine: "What matters most now is the well-being of our kids".

FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said the agency has yet to open a formal investigation, but noted they are still gathering information surrounding the incident.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pitt on Thursday hired Beverly Hills lawyer Lance Spiegel to join his legal team during what is expected to be a contentious divorce from wife Angelina Jolie.
