Husqvarna have released news of the two new bikes in their range; TR650 Strada and Terra.
Both models are road-going, but the TR650 Terra will eat up light off-road terrain in true Husqvarna style, according to the manufacturer. The Terra is offered in two versions for with or without ABS, with on the road prices of £5,271 for the TR650 Terra and £5,971 for the TR650 Terra ABS. Both Terra versions will be produced in the Husqvarna red and white colourway. The TR650 Terra without ABS has a 21″ front wheel and an 18″ rear wheel in order to facilitate a wide choice of off-road tyres. Both versions have spoke wheels (36-hole) with rims and hubs in light alloy. The TR650 Terra ABS has 21″ front and 17″ rear wheels.
The pure road-going TE650 Strada ABS will feature a black and white design and retails at £5,971 on the road. Wheels are 10-spoke light alloy, sizes are 19″ front and 17″ rear. This is the second road model from Husqvarna, following on from the Nuda 900/900R models launched in 2011. Developed in collaboration with BMW Motorrad, the Strada still holds true to Husqvarna’s athletic and dynamic styling. The bike gives a very stable ride with precise control and the ABS offers greater safety when braking, however this can be disengaged should the rider prefer.
Both models use the tried and tested G 650 GS, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine from BMW Motorrad, but modified to deliver an additional 10 hp over the original, returning 43 kW (58 hp) at 7,250 rpm, with a maximum torque of 60 Nm at 5,750 rpm. Improvements include altered electronic fuel-injection and camshafts with longer timings, new valve lift curves and deeper valve strokes. Because of the increased compression ratio from 11.5 to 12.3:1 a modified high-quality forged piston was produced. In addition to increased stiffness and therefore reliability, the new piston also contributes to weight reduction.
Another modification is the newly designed cylinder head, so as to produce even more aerodynamically optimised intake and outlet ducts for increased power. All of which means low fuel consumption and a very impressive range out of the 14 litre (3.08 gallons) fuel tank of more than 350 kilometres (217 miles).
The first models should be arriving into dealerships in early October and demo models should be available at your local official Husqvarna dealer.
