Yamaha Reveal 2012 Yamaha R1 & R6 With 7 Level Traction Control

2012 Yamaha YZF-R1

Further to the leaked photos we brought you earlier today, here are the official photos for the release of the Yamaha YZF-R1 & R6 & the 50th anniversary editions.

The R1 has taken some further technology from the MotoGP championship winning YZR-M1.

An immediate MotoGP-style change is the all new triple clamp with styling taken directly from the M1.

The biggest change, as we said earlier, is the new seven-level Traction Control System, designed so the rider won’t feel anything should the system need to cut in.

The ECU is also new and has been optimised for acceleration and controllability when the bikes in the mid range or low speed.

All this means the rider is being given a multitude of options to select from, over 20 in fact. If you can’t find one that suits, you’re in trouble!

With a new fairing (upper), revised headlight cowl, LED lights and hexagon muffler caps and heat shields, Yamaha have gone for a more agressive stance all round.

You can have the bike in limited-edition Pearl White/Rapid Red livery with a nice little 50th Anniversary logo on the fuel tank, gold Yamaha logos, MotoGP style graphics and Yamaha will even engrave your number place with the production number as only 2000 will be made with the anniversary colours.

For those not going for the ‘one-off’ choice you can also have the bike in Raven, Pearl White/Candy Red or Blue/White.

The YZF-R6 is also available as a limited-edition model in the same Pearl White/Rapid Red 50th Anniversary colors as its big brother.
