After weeks of speculation and Ben Spies making various comments on twitter he has now made his intentions official. He posted a link to superbikeplanet.com via his twitter account . This announcement has been made before his home race in USA. This news was made via email to superbikeplanet.com and he made the following comments

“I have chosen to leave Yamaha after this season for a litany of reasons. I will explain more when I feel it is appropriate. I’m discussing my situation with my sponsors and they are behind me. There are a few people at Yamaha who I hate to leave. And they know who they are. I wish Yamaha the best. I won’t make any further comments until the offical announcement comes out”

Ben has said on twitter- “I’m extremely happy to push for the rest of the season to my fans and myself next year starts a new chapter. And yes I’m pumped!”

There are many questions which I’m sure many will have following this announcement. Will Ben move across to WSBK BMW team as many are suggesting and who will take the factory Yamaha slot?. Will it be Valentino Rossi who is yet to sign for 2013?. I guess only time will tell.
