Top Ten Qualifying For Alex De Angelis, Yuki Takahashi Coming Back

Alex De Angelis - Catalunya 2012

This has not been the best qualifying session of the season for the NGM Mobile Forward Racing Team at the Montmelo circuit but the general feeling is that in terms of tomorrows race the situation can definitely improve.

On one hand Alex De Angelis is in 10th place with a lap time of 1´47.115. He has definitely found the feeling with his Suter bike and only a few overtakes in today’s afternoon session during his fast laps have prevented him from narrowing the gap with today’s faster riders.

Yuki Takahashi in 22nd position with a lap time of 1´47.843, has solved the problem he has had until now with the rear and if during tomorrow’s warm up session he finds the feeling also with the front, he will be able to have good expectations for the race.

Both rider from the NGM Mobile Forward Racing Team have proven to have a steady race pace and tomorrow they will face the Catalunya GP at 12:15h local time.

Alex De Angelis
“I am really sorry for today’s qualifying session because the bike felt particularly good today, for which I would like to say thank you to the team, they have done a great job this weekend. Unfortunately I was not able to do a lap without finding the line already taken, even in the two laps that I was able to go faster I had to do a few overtakes. We know that our potential is better than the one the starting grid position represents and we hope this doesnt compromise the race for us, I think not because the race is long. I’m really looking forward to tomorrow’s race.”

Yuki Takahashi
“The weather conditions yesterday and today were really good, so we have been able to try many things. From yesterday to today we have changed the rear suspension, with different spec. Finally I have good feeling with the rear but still have difficulty to turn with the front. Now I want to fix the front and rear balance and we will be working on it during the warm up tomorrow. If we fix that we should be good for the race.”

Pietro Caprara – Moto2 Technical Director
“This weekend in Catalunya with Yuki we tried something different in the rear shock. Since the beginning of the first session he had a better feeling with the rear but we still need to improve because we found some problem with the front. For sure the track conditions were very hot and this was not helpful for us in order to have a good test of what we are trying to accomplish. Tomorrow during the warm up we will have a chance to try some modifications and we are confident that it will be helpful for the race.

“For Alex it was a shame today because he was really motivated to make a good lap time but found himself in traffic. He is very happy with the bike and believes that he can decrease his lap time by four tenths. This morning we gathered very important information doing more than race distance with used tires only, this is very important and make us confident for tomorrow’s race. The starting position for the race is not ideal but we are confident he can narrow the gap with the race pace he has.”
