Early voting: More good signs for Clinton in key states

Lee, a Hillary Clinton supporter, had been to several predominantly black churches in Dayton on Sunday morning, noting how important voting, including early voting, is for the election.

Potentially a record number. But limitations on early voting still remain.

Steven Harsman, deputy director of the Montgomery County Board of Elections, said that the board expected almost 1,500 voters to participate on Sunday and almost 3,000 for the weekend. "So to win, he would have to see his core supporters come out in large numbers while others stay home".

I love that early voting - and its spread to multiple locations in many counties - has expanded convenience for voters.

Some states have mobile polling, also known as supervised absentee voting.

"In California, my home state, it wasn't too hard to vote absentee", Francis said.

Colorado conducts its elections nearly entirely by mail - every registered voter has already been mailed a ballot, and they can send it in whenever they want before Election Day.

Seth Unger, communications director for Donald Trump's OH campaign, released a statement saying that early voting in OH is important to the Trump campaign.

Studies on this have turned out to have scattershot results. The percentage of early voters has increased over the past two decades.

Early voting turnout in 2016 has so far tracked closely with early voting from 2012 despite fewer locations

But then, there's evidence in the opposite direction. Instead, she opened up only one early voting site - in her office. But that's a significant drop from their position at this point in 2012, when they led by 56,000. While their votes will not be counted until Election Day, registered Democrats are outperforming Republicans in key demographics and urban areas there and in North Carolina, where extensive in-person voting began late last week and which has emerged as one of the most closely contested battlegrounds for the White House and control of the Senate.

In addition, it found that wealthier and more educated people were more likely to take advantage of early voting. But those numbers dwarf in comparison to the 73,000-vote advantage Republicans enjoyed about two weeks prior to the 2008 election.

"Members of the Congressional Black Caucus are here in OH helping to get the vote out", Lee said. The state does not break down ballots by party affiliation. Electionland is a project that will cover access to the ballot and problems that prevent people from exercising their right to vote during the 2016 election. And those results are mixed. The Democratic party in Nevada is ready to get them out and voting for their candidates.

But if you've done your due diligence and you're ready to pull the trigger, absentee ballots are now available. Democrats have cast about 46% of early ballots through Wednesday (26 October), while Republicans have cast 29%. This year, Democrats are up by about 10,000 votes, according to CNN.

In Ohio, the heavily Democratic counties of Cuyahoga and Franklin continue to show double-digit declines in ballot requests compared to 2012. Under the system in MA, individual voter data, like other states provide, won't even be collected and processed until after Election Day.

People who have a valid photo ID but do not have it with them at the time of voting, can still cast a provisional ballot.

Also on November 9, the Electoral Board will begin reviewing provisional ballots and deciding which ballots can be voted and included with the county's results.

Voting early is not an indicator of your political preference. In Nevada, for example, Republicans have a roughly 1,600-vote lead in mail-in votes, while Democrats have a 28,155-vote lead in in-person voting. Even in states that don't allow early voting, there is still an opportunity to cast ones ballot, such as here in Virginia where one can cast an in-person absentee vote for any reason by appearing at the local registrars office.

Carson City early voters are still turning out in droves. As early voting expert Paul Gronke told NPR, that changes campaign strategy. But other states like Texas, Florida and North Carolina are just getting started. In any election, last-minute revelations can impact the way a voter processes his decisions.
