The Japanese certainly are very clever, and efficient it would seem to. They have now created a block of eight apartments designed exclusively for motorcyclists.
The block is located on a flag shaped plot near the apex of a triangular block. They designed the block in a C-shape which gave them the largest volume per apartment whilst providing a turning circle in the centre for motorcycles.
The entrances to the apartments, all from the ground floor, also serve as the garages in which you can store your motorcycles, with stairs up to the living areas.
In some apartments the bathrooms and garage are one space, so you’d better hope you don’t need to go when there’s a power cut, stubbing your toe is one thing but falling over your beloved Ducati or MV is another!
The apartments are Located in Suginami, Tokyo and called NE apartments. They were a design collaboration between Japanese architects Yuji Nakae, Hirofumi Ohno and Akiyoshi Takagi and have been up and in use for several years now.
