Triumph have released details of the 2013 Tiger 1050cc and it gets an upgrade so ‘comprehensive’, say Triumph, that they’ve renamed it the Tiger Sport.
Triumph have remodelled the rear of the bike and the majority of the front and although the engine is the same, work on the exhaust and intake system has seen it generate an additional 10PS of power to 125PS (123bhp, 92kW) and torque of 104Nm (77lb.ft, 10.6kgm).
Triumph say the revisions have also enhanced the familiar growl from the three-cylinder engine while a one-tooth larger rear sprocket has also improved acceleration.
The bike is an adventure-style street bike, whatever that means, and Triumph have worked hard on strengthening the chassis and fully revising the suspension and giving it a single-sided swingarm.
The revisions aren’t all mechanical though, the tail unit, screen and side panels are all new as well as the belly pan. The rider sits 5mm lower on the narrower & longer seat and the pillion sits lower too and improved grab handles are fitted as standard.
A new Dynamic Luggage System option sees a 10kg payload per pannier with an inter-connecting cable between the cases isolates turbulence-induced movement from the chassis.
The left hand switch cube now enable the rider to use all dash functions using just their left hand, removing the need to reach forward to the instrument panel.
As with all other new Triumph motorcycles the Tiger Sport comes with an unlimited mileage, two year factory warranty.
The new Tiger Sport is available in Crystal White and Diablo Red and prices will be announced in February with bikes being available in Triumph’s UK dealerships from March 2013.
